Physical Media

Ah its funny how an old product like the 'CD' which sits on some of our shelves-its a generational thing; I have had over 8,000 CD's-could be holding on to old technology like the Sony DRM attempt. But come on, its fair game for anybody who produces media to try to protect their rights to advertise next to those items. I'm only not fond of DRM for the simple reason that it does more then just pin me down, it tries to eventually evade my computers working environment for its own use. I like DRM only for the fact that the profits made from track-able plays on peoples computers should be paying for the artists lifestyle who create the fresh content.

Recent FAQs:
Is dotherightthing a new outlet for consumers' ranting?
No, the goal of dotherightthing is to create a community-powered ranking system for companies' impacts on people and the environment. Many companies are already doing tremendously positive things that affect our communities, the environment, and perhaps people we will never have the chance to meet. Dotherightthing simply makes it easier to understand which companies go out of their way to do the right thing (and which could use some examples to follow). You can also check out our tutorial.
What similarities does dotherightthing have with Digg?
Dotherightthing launched to recognize companies for doing the right thing by creating a system that would track the impacts of companies on people and the environment. In working to solve this problem, the co-founders of dotherightthing determined that the best way to share unfiltered information was by empowering users to share information that they find relevant, not depend external information. The technology that proved most effective was one that allowed users to define what was relevant, within a participatory environment, a concept that is similar to that which is used by the popular social news site, Digg. The dotherightthing team members believe in utilizing the best technology available to solve a problem and designed the entire site according to this idea. Therefore, the creation of dotherightthing began with the problem, not the method.
Where's the RSS?
RSS, or Really Simply Syndication, which allows users to receive stories using another program or website that collects all of the information that on which they would like to stay up to date, is on its way. We wanted to release dotherightthing the minute it was ready, and that is what we did last week. RSS is at the top of our priority list and it will be made available shortly. We appreciate your patience, in the meantime. . .
